FEMM has released their first ballad song since their debut, a pretty piano track called Unbreakable. The lyrics are predictably about the “unbreakable” nature of a relationship. The song is definitely very soft and different compared to the duo’s usual confident, that’s-so-cute-how-you-think-I-care song theme. If you don’t know FEMM, then I suggest you leave this post immediately or you will have the next song I’m about to talk about in your head for at least the next 48 hours. My best friend literally played this thing for like 24 hours nonstop. I’m pretty sure I tried to jump out of the car, and she was still singing. The song that brought FEMM to my attention was the English track FxxK Boyz Get Money, which introduced me to their electro-pop club sound. My favorite line is, “Silly boys can’t tame me. Benny is the only one who is ever gonna claim me.” It reminded me of Lady Gaga’s Money Honey, you know, back when Gaga was good. The song and historically accurate PV are below.
Far East Mention Mannequins, or FEMM, is an artistic project group. The girls are called MS-000000 (LuLa) and SW-000000 (RiRi), they are supposed to be liberated mannequins trying to bring attention to the oppression of other mannequins. They have killer fashion and their robotic movements are so on point it’s almost terrifying. We will have real robot pop stars one day, courtesy of Japan, of course, but till then we have FEMM. Miku is only the beginning! I’ll end this post with my two favorite songs and PVs: Dead Wrong (Leather kimonos, come on!) and Party All Night (Which has the most amazing finger tutting choreography). If you want to follow FEMM here’s the duo’s official YouTube, Twitter, and website.
