Have you ever wanted to see holographic superstar Hatsune Miku live in concert? Well, the blue-haired eternal teenager is bringing the Hatsune Miku 2014 Expo to Los Angeles and New York! If you want a chance to win free tickets, Crunchyroll is holding a video contest for fans. In order to enter, you need to “record a video 30 seconds or less of you or you and your friends dancing, drawing, cosplaying, having fun, or being creative in any way to Sharing the World.” Then you upload the video to YouTube and post the link in the comment section of this page. The contest will end on September 19th and winners will be announced September 26th. The first place winner receives a pair of tickets to the city of their choosing. Meanwhile, second and third place winners get a special Hatsune Miku grab bag. The grab bag can include any items from the concert merchandise store and I posted some preview items below.
Sharing the World is the theme song of the expo and you can hear it below.
And if you don’t know what the expo is about, let me enlighten you to the world of Miku! The L.A. expo will take place on October 11th and 12th. According to the official site, for the exhibition part Miku and her friends will host a “Japanese Matsuri-styled festival event, with an art exhibition around the universe of Hatsune Miku, featuring a selection of gorgeous artworks by popular artists, and centered around a special Halloween-themed space. Exclusive items will be on sale at the shop to make for a fun and original Halloween celebration.” It will take place at the Los Angeles Center Studios. Meanwhile, the concert with live band will then take place at Nokia Theater. If you don’t want to enter the contest but want to go, tickets start at $55.00.
In New York, the expo will include “a selection of cool and exclusive artworks and posters featuring the universe of Hatsune Miku, showcasing different aspects of the culture that she initiated in her native Japan and that is now taking on the world. Some of the posters exhibited are on sale at the venue.” It will take place in the Lower East Side concept space Wallplay. Meanwhile, the concert will take place in Hammerstein Ballroom. If you don’t want to enter the contest but want to go, tickets start at $65.00.
