2NE1‘s CL is getting some serious promo before her American debut. I don’t know how YG managed to do this (…Scooter Braun…) but I’m impressed. The idol is featured in The Wild magazine’s December issue wearing pieces from Moschino‘s Resort 2015 collection and Spring 2015 menswear collection. I’m not surprised, plus this isn’t the first time CL wears menswear and I actually love that.

Anyway, for the issue she had very articulate answers (no “like” after every third word but they could have omitted those) and kind of blew my mind a bit. My favorite quote was: “I feel like Asian women are especially represented in a certain way all over the world. The image is very timid and obedient, and I’m the complete opposite of that. I want people to know we’re not always like that. When you look at the artists in J-pop or K-pop, there is a standard: 7 girls wearing the same clothes, very cute and shy. I just want to say there are stronger women like me. I like those groups too, but I want to let the world know that that’s not everything. Sending that message through music is what I do best. I want to lead by example.”

She also said this: “There’s no one in front of me who has done this before [American debut]. Maybe there were people who have tried, but I can’t really name anyone who was successful enough to be my mentor as an Asian woman.” And I’m really hoping that netizens don’t say that she’s throwing shade at BoA because I don’t think she’s doing that.

SM had no idea what they were doing with BoA’s “American career,” if it can even be called that. She sold 10,000 copies. Although that can be considered a hit in Korea, that’s a major flop in America. But Eat You Up, Did Ya and I Did It For Love are classics and I will fight anyone on this. The album wasn’t promoted correctly, that’s truly what happened. Okay netizens! CL isn’t referring to talent! I know it’s coming, but god I hope I’m just being dramatic. YG had no idea what they were doing with Se7en either (Though Girls is in my iTunes and I feel dirty…). ALSO I’m still pissed off about how SM is handling BoA’s career right now. She is seriously not a priority for them despite being one of the groundbreaking Hallyu acts – okay, losing track of thought here!

The clothes CL wore in the pictorial are below and can be seen walking down the runway. I didn’t spot any that are available for purchase but feel free to tell me if you guys do and I’ll add links. Later!
